  • Claim Data: If you authorize a claim, we collect your full name, email, phone, mailing address, Social Security Number, date of birth, and government-issued photo ID.
  • Usage Data: Browser type, IP address, pages visited, and referral source via standard analytics tools.
  • Cookies: We use first-party cookies to improve your experience and identify returning visitors.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To search the California State Controller's unclaimed property database on your behalf
  • To file claims with the State Controller's Office
  • To communicate claim status updates via email and SMS
  • To comply with legal requirements (CCP Section 1582)
  • To improve our services and website experience

3. Data Security

Social Security Numbers are encrypted using AES-256 (Fernet) encryption at rest. All data is transmitted via HTTPS/TLS. We implement industry-standard security practices including encrypted databases, access controls, and regular security reviews.

4. Data Retention

Personal information collected for claim filing is retained until the claim is fully processed and paid. After claim closure, all sensitive documents (ID copies, SSN proof) are permanently deleted within 30 days. We retain anonymized claim records for accounting purposes.

5. Third-Party Sharing

We share your information only with:

  • The California State Controller's Office (to file your claim)
  • Notarization service providers (for claims requiring notarization)
  • DocuSign (for electronic signature processing)

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
