1. Services
GVT Money provides unclaimed property recovery services for the State of California. We search the California State Controller's Office database, identify potential claimants, and assist with filing claims on their behalf.
2. Fee Structure
Our fee is 10% of the net recovered property value, as permitted by California Code of Civil Procedure Section 1582. You pay no upfront fees. The fee is paid by the State Controller's Office as a separate warrant (check). You receive 90% of your recovered property directly from the State.
3. Disclosure
As required by CCP Section 1582, we disclose the following before you sign any agreement:
- Your property is held by the California State Controller's Office
- You may claim the property yourself at no cost via claimit.ca.gov or (800) 992-4647
- GVT Money is a private company, not a government agency
- Our fee cannot exceed 10% of recovered property value
4. No Guarantee
While we strive for a high success rate, we cannot guarantee that every claim will be approved by the State Controller's Office. If a claim is denied, you owe us nothing.
5. Electronic Signatures
By signing our Investigator Agreement electronically (via DocuSign, SMS, email, or voice consent), you acknowledge that electronic signatures are legally binding under the federal ESIGN Act (15 U.S.C. Section 7001) and California's Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (Civil Code Section 1633.1 et seq.).
6. Cancellation
You may cancel your authorization at any time before we file your claim with the State Controller's Office. Contact us at [email protected] to cancel. Once a claim is filed, it cannot be withdrawn without State Controller approval.
7. Limitation of Liability
GVT Money's liability is limited to the amount of fees you paid (which is zero, since the State pays our fee). We are not liable for delays in State Controller processing, claim denials, or losses arising from information you provide.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Sacramento County, California.
